Season Six Premiere: What We Know

"Game of Thrones" season six premiered April 24 and, of course, the episode was full of shockers. Amidst all of the jumping around from story to story though are the key points to focus on from the episode. Here is what we know so far:

1. Jon Snow is dead. It's been made pretty clear that Jon is dead. He was found drenched in his own blood, lying in the snow, and his lifeless corpse was shown multiple times throughout the episode to emphasize that he was definitely not going to magically reawaken. It is terribly sad, but also sadly true. However, our beloved Jon was placed safely on a table under Ser Davos' protection instead of burying or burning him, so that could potentially be a promising sign...

2. Sansa and Brienne have finally joined forces. Finally, after two whole seasons, Brienne has found Sansa once more and this time, Sansa accepts her sworn oath of allegiance and protection. This is good news for both women because now Sansa will be safeguarded from her hideous husband (as will Theon) and Brienne can finally feel halfway at peace knowing that she has found one of the two Stark girls. Now she just needs to find Arya again and rescue her from her blind, beggar lifestyle.

3. Daenerys is safe...for now. The Dothraki are forbidden to hurt or sleep with Daenerys because she is the widow of a former Khal. However, she is forbidden to leave the Dothraki village because as a Khal widow, she is supposed to live out the rest of her days in a sacred village called Vaes Dothrak.  Jorah and Daario are begrudgingly teaming up to find her, but The Mother of Dragons may not be able to escape this prison without the help of her flying, fire-breathing friends.

4. Melisandre is old. Apparently, the necklace that Melisandre always wears has special powers or a spell that makes her appear youthful, even though she really is apparently quite old. This was the big shocker of the episode, considering that she is constantly flaunting her beauty and sexuality. Melisandre's age reveal was also the very last scene of the episode, so it definitely leaves you wondering what this could mean. This could be foreshadowing some big things to come for Jon, since The Red Woman has now clearly shown that she can prolong life and stave off death...

More answers hopefully to come during the next episode this Sunday, May 1.

HBO Releases Season 6 Episode 1 Clips

HBO continues to tease by releasing posters, trailers, and now two new clips of the first episode of "Game of Thrones" season six, premiering April 24.

The first clip gives us a taste of an important conversation about Myrcella's death between the recently humiliated Cersei and her vengeful brother/lover, Jaime. How will Cersei and Jaime respond to the murder of their daughter?

The second clip shows Sansa Stark and Theon Greyjoy (Reek) fleeing Winterfell to escape Ramsay. Will they get away or will Ramsay catch them and bring them back again?

Watch the clips here:

The first episode of the season is called "The Red Woman," referencing Melisandre. Could this be a hint as to what lies ahead for Jon Snow in the season premiere? Maybe Melisandre can offer some witchcraft assistance? The official synopsis for the first episode can be seen here.

President Obama Given Advanced Game of Thrones Screenings

If you want to know what happens in season six of "Game of Thrones," you don't have to wait until the season premiere on April 24 -- just ask President Obama.

The President requested advanced screenings of the highly-anticipated season, and show runners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss obliged.

"When the commander-in-chief says 'I want to see advanced episodes,' what are you going to do?" Benioff said in an interview during HBO's Facebook Live stream.

Obama is now part of an extremely exclusive in-the-know group, due to the fact that show runners decided against having any screeners this year. Since last season's first few episodes were leaked, producers of the hit series have kept a tight lock on the episodes of season six. The show is also the most consistently pirated show each year.

"I think for both of us, finding out the president wanted advanced copies of the episodes was an 'aha' moment," Weiss said during the Facebook Live stream. "That was a very strange moment."

Obama has revealed his love for "Game of Thrones" before at the White House Correspondents' Association during his speech with Keegan-Michael Key and has also said that Tyrion is his favorite character.

So Obama is one of the only ones who currently knows Jon Snow's impending fate. As for the rest of us common folk, we will just have to wait (impatiently) until April 24 to find out.
